A medical doctor with a Diploma in Pathology, qualified MCPS (Clinical Pathology), and Fellowship (Clinical Microbiology), Diploma OSHE follwed by Diploma in Disaster Management; later on job training in infection control and mycology from UK.  Excelled in the fields of biosafety, biosecurity, dual-use safety and infection control.  Completed Certificate course in Emerging Infectious Diseases from University of Iowa and later qualified Dual-use Biosecurity course from Bradford University.  Presently completing PhD (Microbiology).  Hold multiple academic distinctions and honors.  First Pakistani to be a Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP) by American Biological Safety Association; and Biosafety Professional (BSP Level 2) from UK.  Awarded FRCP Edinburgh in 2012.  Member of National Task Force on Biosafety, and Convener Microbiology (Pakistan Medical & Research Council).  Contributed immensely towards formulation of national BTWC related legislation and drafted national guidelines for Code of Conduct for life scientists.  Chief Editor of Infectious Diseases Journal Pakistan and among the editorial board of national and international journals.  Have more than a hundred publications.   Actively engaged in post-graduate academics and continuing medical education affairs.  Hold the ultimate distinction to be selected for ‘Biosafety Heroes Award’ by IFBA.
