Dr Onur Karatuna

Assistant Professor of Medical Microbiology, Acibadem University School of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey

I am a M.D. holding specialty degree in medical microbiology. I’m currently working at Acibadem University School of Medicine, Department of Medical Microbiology with the title Assistant Professor of Medical Microbiology. Starting from my specialty training, I’ve focused on antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and resistance surveillance. I’m a member of the study group ESGARS (ESCMID Study Group for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance) and also of ADTS (Study Group for Standardization of Antimicrobial Susceptibility Tests) http://www.tmc-online.org/?action=adts), which operates under the auspices of Turkish Society for Microbiology and recognized by EUCAST as the National Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing Committee of Turkey.

I’m very aware of the ever growing problem of antibiotic resistance and would be very grateful to find the chance to be involved in any activity trying to avoid the development of resistance and promote rational use and development of new antibiotics.
