Senior Lecturer in University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK
Dr Paul A. Hoskisson is a Senior Lecturer in Microbiology at the University of Strathclyde. His research interests are focused on the Actinobacteria. His laboratory is focused on studying antibiotic producing Streptomyces – developing new antibiotics and improving production of known antibiotics. Streptomyces are prolific producers of antibiotics, with over half of all clinically used antibiotics being synthesised by these organisms.
The Hoskisson laboratory is also interested in the evolution of pathogenicity in Actinobacteria, including antibiotic resistance, particularly in pathogenic Corynebacterium diphtheriae.
