Dr Suaib Luqman

Scientist & Assistant Professor (AcSIR), Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow, India

I am a Scientist by profession. My basic training was in Biology (Biochemistry) and my current area of research involves molecular and cell target based evaluation of natural products and their analogues as anticancer and anti-infectives. I am a part of group working on plant based drug discovery and bioactivity prospection of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs), which are used in Traditional System of Medicine. Apart from molecular biology and medicinal chemistry, my interest also includes biomarkers of oxidative stress and bio-chemical transformation of secondary metabolites to obtain derivatives with novel activities, which are otherwise difficult to achieve. In the present era of modern world where the boundaries between the subjects are disappearing, I believe, working at these closely related, complimentary and interlinked areas of sciences will be exciting.
