Lea Ganeswaran

Lea Ganeswaran, Student, Chessington, UK

I am a year 13 student at The Tiffin Girl’s School. Studying Biology at A Level introduced me to the antibiotic resistance crisis, which I found very intriguing. In an attempt to further my knowledge about this phenomenon, I attended a lecture ‘Resisting the Antibiotic Apocalypse’ where I learned about Antibiotic Action and I wanted to be part of this team and to contribute in raising awareness of this growing crisis. I was very happy to find out that the ‘Antiobiotic Resistance’ topic has won the Longitude Award because I believe that many scientists and pharmaceutical companies will work together to discover new classes of antibiotics. As well as this, I would like to study Biomedical Science at university level and I believe that as a future biomedical scientist it is my responsibility to contribute to this war against antibiotic resistance.
