Monisha Shaik

Student, London, UK

I am Monisha Shaik, MRes student in Microbiology at Birkbeck University of London. Currently working in a TB research area, I understand how important it is to appropriately use antibiotics which will otherwise leads to emergence of resistance. Bringing new drug to the market involves lot of effort and time and when the drugs are not appropriately used, the microorganisms will quickly gain resistance to the drug. Not only there is need of new antibiotics, more than that there is an emerging need for appropriate use of antibiotic. As a part of society, I want to engage myself in such activities to raise awareness among general public being a part of Antibiotic Champion.
