Dougal Adamson

A student at the University of St Andrews, Dougal is in the final year of a degree in Biochemistry currently investigating antibiotic resistance mechanisms – efflux pump overexpression in Pseudomonas aeruginosa – as part of his research project. Dougal has broad interests in science, healthcare and entrepreneurship. He recently completed a global internship with a Big4 professional services firm specialising in the Life Science department where clients ranged from clinical stage Biotechs to Big Pharma. Dougal became aware of Antibiotic Action following research for a module titled ‘Antimicrobials – Mode of Action and Resistance’ and his interest in the issue grew from there. He is passionate about spreading awareness of the dangers of antibiotic resistance and to that end Dougal is running the Edinburgh Marathon 2014 in aid of Antibiotic Action! Alongside Dougal’s studies and marathon training, playing golf and cooking keep him busy.
