STP Trainee Clinical Scientist Microbiology, Royal Free Hospital, London, UK

I currently work at the Royal Free Hospital as a Trainee Clinical Scientist on the STP training scheme for the National School of Healthcare Science. Every day I see more and more bacteria that are very resistant to routine antibiotics. It disappoints me that pharmaceutical companies are investing more money in chronic conditions rather than conditions that could be easily treated, such as UTIs and wound infections. The general public needs to be well educated in antibiotic treatment so they can help to stop the decline in available treatments. Hopefully I can help to raise awareness of such a key medical issue!
