Selina Church

PhD Student, Devon, UK

I am a PhD student at the University of Exeter, working as part of the Microbes and Disease Group. My main interest is in pathogenic bacteria, focusing on understanding the molecular mechanisms employed by bacteria to cause disease.

As an Antibiotic Champion I hope to increase awareness of the current problem of antibiotic resistance among bacteria and the need for novel antibiotics to counter this problem. I hope to increase people’s understanding that antibiotic resistance is a problem that we are facing now and resistance in bacteria is a problem that could potentially affect each one of us.
