Clinical Microbiologist, Croatia
I’m a medical doctor and specialist of clinical microbiology, currently working in the private sector in Croatia. As a consultant to other physicians, I am dedicated to promote prudent approach to antibiotic usage in order to positively influence outpatient antibiotic prescription patterns. Along the same lines, my PhD dissertation was conducted to interrogate the influence of high antibiotic usage on the antimicrobial susceptibility of chlamydial isolates (thesis topic: In vitro efficacy of azithromycin, doxycycline and levofloxacin against urogenital Chlamydia trachomatis strains), and a great deal of my peer-reviewed publications covers the topic of antibiotic resistance. I’m actively involved in different national programmes and projects, as well as in science communication endeavours. Furthermore, I participate in the teaching of students at the university level and I was also an invited lecturer in meetings, courses and workshops in Croatia and abroad, where I used every opportunity to promote responsible use of antimicrobials.
