As a Lupus Reasearch Nurse working in a medical team that is focused on an international study to improve our patient’s health, I don’t feel I can stress how important antibiotics are to the Lupus group of patients, and others taking immunosupressant treatments. Unfortunately the daily medication that keeps them alive, can also put them at a greater risk of picking up other illnesses, which then also need treatment, with drugs such as antibiotics. These are not always effective. Good research into new antibacterial agents must become a priority.
