WHO Releases New Guidance on AMR Surveillance Using a One Health Approach

The World Health Organization (WHO) Advisory Group on Integrated Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AGISAR) has released a new guidance document to assist countries in establishing integrated programmes for the surveillance of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in foodborne bacteria (i.e. bacteria that is commonly transmitted by food). The guidelines take on a One Health Approach and have been developed by AGISAR in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the World Organisation for Animal Health, and Codex Alimentarius.
